Six-Run Outburst Puts Kangs Back on Track

Senior Colin Tremblay’s
two-run single sparked LW’s 8th inning rally.
In a wild game that started Monday and ended Thursday, the
Kangs broke an 8-8 tie with a 6-run eighth inning, guiding them to a 14-8 win
over Roosevelt. The game was suspended
by rain in the top of the eighth on Monday, with LW having runners on first and
third and nobody out and catcher Colin Tremblay at the plate. When play resumed Thursday, junior Kory
Kohlwes stole second base on the first pitch.
With the count 0-2, Tremblay lined a single to right field, plating John
Shimabukuro and Kohlwes to give LW a 10-8 lead.
Junior Alex Donnelly followed with a hit-and-run single, with fellow
junior Bob Cruikshank loading the bases with an infield hit. Following a strikeout, sophomore right
fielder Theo Alexander stepped to the plate and drove a 3-1 pitch deep to right
field, clearing the bases with a three-run double and giving the Kangs a
commanding 5-run lead. Alexander scored
on a wild pitch to cap the biggest inning of the KingCo season for LW.
Junior
Spencer Jackson, who had worked two innings on Monday, retired the side in the
bottom half of the eighth, inducing a 4-6-3 double play to end the game. He improved to 2-1 on the season with the
win, which puts the Kangs back in a tie for the final playoff spot in the Crown
Division with Ballard. Both teams are
just one game behind third place Woodinville, who is the Kangs’ Friday
opponent. Game time is set for 4:00 pm
at Lee Johnson Field – be there!
