Kangs Bats Silenced in 4-0 Loss

Wesley Russell’s fifth
inning double was the lone hit for LW on Wednesday.
Newport’s Jeffery Gonzales stymied the Kang bats, allowing
just 1-hit in a complete game shutout as the Knights topped Lake Washington,
4-0. Senior Trevor Dunlap matched zeroes
with Gonzales through four innings, allowing no hits and stranding four Newport
runners with the aid of two double plays.
The Knights broke through in the fifth however, on RBI hits by Nate
Anderson and Trase Tam Sing. Single runs
in the sixth and seventh padded the lead and was more than Gonzales needed on
this night.
Dunlap pitched well, allowing just 3 earned runs and 4 hits
over 6 innings of work. Lake Washington
couldn’t help him offensively, as Wesley Russell’s fifth inning double was the
only hit the Kangs could muster all day.
They had two other chances to score, but left a runner in scoring
position in the 4th and 6th innings. Gonzales slammed the door late, striking out
the final five batters to complete the shutout.
