Dunlap’s Gem Leads Kangs Past Beavers

Senior Trevor Dunlap tossed
a 2-hit shutout in the Kangs KingCo opener.
Trevor Dunlap needed just 86 pitches in a complete game
shutout as Lake Washington topped Ballard 2-0 in the KingCo 4A opener for both
teams. Dunlap allowed just two hits and
a walk while striking out four Beaver hitters.
The senior right hander has been masterful thus far in 2010, spinning 11
consecutive scoreless innings to start the season.
Ballard senior left hander Charlie Beaudoin matched Dunlap
pitch for pitch through four innings, keeping the Kangs scoreless. LW broke through for a single run in the top
half of the fifth, when senior second baseman John Shimabukuro drew a bases
loaded walk. The Kangs added their
second run in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by senior catcher Colin
Tremblay. That was all Dunlap needed, as
he retired the side in order in the seventh to preserve the win. For the game, Dunlap retired 15 of the final
16 Ballard hitters, allowing just one runner past first base.
With the win, Lake Washington joins Inglemoor and Woodinville
in winning their first Crown division contest of the season. The Kangs will play host to Roosevelt in
their home opener on Thursday. Game time
is 7:00 pm at Lee Johnson Field.
