Viltz Scores Player of the Week Honors

Senior Chris Viltz was the KingCo Crown Division Player of the Week in week 3.

Congratulations are in order to Kangs right fielder Chris Viltz, who was awarded player of the week honors for his outstanding performances in Lake Washington’s three games last week.  Viltz finished the week 5-for-8 (.625) with two doubles, a home run, 4 runs scored and 5 RBI, leading LW to a 2-1 record.  Viltz also walked four times, reaching base safely in nine of his twelve plate appearances.  Overall this season, the senior is hitting .545 with a .651 on-base percentage and slugging .939, all good for tops on the Kangs.  He also leads LW in hits (18), RBI (16), doubles (7), stolen bases (7), and is tied with Eric Folkers with 2 home runs.

Speaking of Folkers, the senior corner infielder was also in the running for last week’s award, finishing the three games 5-for-10 with a home run and 9 RBI.  Senior Alex Potts also enjoyed a fine week, ending up 7-for-10 with 6 runs scored and 3 RBI.  Lake Washington scored 31 runs in three games last week, and is currently hitting .336 as a club.

The Kangs kick off a three game week this afternoon with a home game against the Garfield Bulldogs.  First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm at Lee Johnson Field.
