Opening Day Set for Tuesday

The Kangs are hoping to avoid too many days like this in 2009.

The 2009 Kangs Baseball season kicks into gear this week with opening day for all three teams scheduled for Tuesday. The weekend jamborees for the Varsity and JV teams, as well as the sophomore team opener against Eastlake were all rained out.

The Varsity team will open its ’09 campaign with a home game against the Liberty Patriots on Tuesday at Lee Johnson Field. Liberty played its opener on Friday, defeating the Inglemoor Vikings 10-3 thanks to an eight run sixth inning. Game time is set for 4:00 pm. Following that game, the Kangs will take two days off before heading to Kennewick on Friday to take on the defending 3A state champion Lions. The doubleheader is set for Saturday at noon.

The Junior Varsity team will also take on Liberty, traveling south for a 4:00 pm contest at Liberty HS. Meanwhile, the sophomore team plays host to Issaquah at 4:30 at Lake Washington HS.
