Viltz, DeRooy Win Weekly KingCo Honors
Lake Washington’s own Chris Viltz
and Woodinville’s Brett DeRooy were selected as the KingCo
4A player and pitcher of the week for the week of March 24-29.
Viltz,
a junior outfielder for the Kangs, wins this week's award based on a .667 batting
average (4-6) with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI in Lake Washington's two
games. The week included hitting for the cycle in a game against
Bothell. Viltz tripled in the first, homered in the third, singled in the fourth and doubled in
the seventh to achieve the rare feat. For the season, Viltz
is hitting .421 with 2 doubles, 2 home runs and 6 RBI.
Brett DeRooy, a junior
left-hander for the Falcons, is the winner of this week's award, striking out
19 batters in a 4-3 Woodinville win over Eastlake. DeRooy
went the distance, allowing 3 runs on four hits and walking just three to go
along with the 19 punchouts. For the season, DeRooy is 2-1 with a 3.13 ERA and has 30 strikeouts in 15
2/3 innings of work.
Congratulations to
Chris on a well-deserved award!
