KingCo
Opening Day
After two weeks of practice and preparation, Tuesday brings
Opening Day for the 2008 KingCo 4A season.
Over the past three seasons, the Lake Washington Kangs are 42-10 in KingCo
play (.808 win percentage), good for the best mark in the league. They will look to continue their recent
success in 2008, with senior captains Curtis Howell, Ryan Neumann and David
Rosser leading the way. Other Varsity returners include outfielder Joey Semler
(Sr.) and third baseman Eric Folkers (Jr.). The remainder of the roster consists of
players with limited to no Varsity experience.
Rounding out the senior class are pitchers Nick Clayton and Sean Falco along with 1B/OF Chris Hashimoto. The junior class is strong, with Christian
Kaiser (P/UTIL), Blake Lively (P/IF), Alex Potts (IF), Dan Reynar (P/IF), Tyler
Staudacher (P), Clayton Truex
(1B) and Chris Viltz (OF) all poised to make their
first contributions at the Varsity level.
The lone sophomore on this year’s roster is P/1B Alex Houghton.
The Kangs, who tied for third place in the conference in
2007 with a 15-5 record, open play at home against the Roosevelt
Roughriders. Game time is at 6:00 pm at
Lee Johnson Field at Peter Kirk Park. The
top ticket in the league on Tuesday features two playoff teams from a year ago
when Bothell (16-4, 4th in State in ’07) travels to Hartman Park to
take on Redmond (15-5 in ’07).
Elsewhere, Inglemoor travels to Eastlake,
Juanita hosts Ballard and Garfield takes on Woodinville.
Check back often for Kang updates as well as updates from
around the KingCo 4A conference.
