KingCo
Play Opens on Tuesday
With the annual jamborees in the books, the
Lake Washington baseball team joins the rest of the KingCo conference in
kicking off the 2007 conference season on Tuesday. This year marks the first time since 2004
that KingCo 4A teams will not have an opportunity to play non-league games
before jumping into conference play.
With Skyline moving back to the 3A classification, the conference is
back to an 11-team league, which eliminates the non-league portion of the schedule. Each team will play every team in the league
twice for a total of 20 games, with the KingCo championship going to the team
with the best regular season record.
The Kangs, who are a KingCo best 27-5 over
the past two seasons, open their 2007 campaign at Ingraham
High School (directions), where they will take on the Roosevelt
Roughriders at 6:00 pm. The Roughriders
were much improved in 2006, finishing just a game out of the playoffs at
7-9. Meanwhile, Lake Washington finished
at 13-3 in league play in 2006, losing the KingCo championship game to Woodinville
before defeating Bothell in dramatic fashion to advance to their third straight
4A state tournament.
Elsewhere, Woodinville opens its title
defense by traveling to Garfield HS to take on the Bulldogs. Other games include Juanita traveling to Ballard,
Inglemoor hosting Eastlake and Redmond hooking up
with Bothell.
Check back often for Kang updates as well as
updates from around the KingCo conference.
