Kangs
Baseball Just Around the Corner
With the first day of Kangs Baseball on the
horizon (Monday, February 26th), final preparations are being made
for the upcoming season. The coaching staff
has been hard at work preparing for tryouts and getting everything stocked and
cleaned up for the season. The senior
workouts have been well attended, showing the players are committed to a
successful year as well.
The KingCo 4A conference has changed slightly
for 2007, with the loss of Skyline who returned to KingCo 3A. The conference is left with 11 teams, which
changes the schedule and eliminates non-league play. The Kangs will play each KingCo team twice
for a total of 20 league games in 2007, with the KingCo champion being decided
by the best regular season record. The
top six teams will advance to the KingCo tournament, with the top two seeds
earning a first round bye.
The KingCo conference has an opportunity to
send three teams to the state tournament this year. As has been the case in prior years, the top
two finishers in the KingCo tournament advance to state play. In addition, the third place finisher in the
tournament will take on the third place team from the Greater St. Helen’s League
(Vancouver area) for the final state berth.
The Kangs open their 2007 campaign against
Roosevelt High School on Tuesday, March 13th.
